IT Support Analyst

This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving Cambridge Based SME as a talented IT Support Analyst to join its rapidly growing scientific team.

The candidate will play a key role in managing and supporting IT infrastructure and end-users at a fast-growing biotechnology company which is developing drugs for protein misfolding diseases (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s).  They will specify, procure, set up and maintain IT hardware and software, as well as supporting users with day-to-day IT issues.  They will also work with the company’s Data and Analytics team to ensure that the company has the appropriate on-premises and cloud IT infrastructure to support ongoing projects. The candidate will have a desire to work in a company which is discovering new treatments for debilitating diseases, in an innovative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners
  • Working with scientific teams and laboratory instrument vendors to specify laboratory IT hardware and administer scientific software
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems (including server infrastructure) and networks
  • Developing and maintaining local networks to optimise security and performance
  • Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests
  • Providing technical support across the company (in person and / or over the phone)
  • Setting up accounts for new users
  • Maintaining inventories of hardware and software and tracking maintenance,
  • Repairing and replacing equipment as necessary
  • Testing new technology
  • Specifying and recommending new technology and hardware to fit company requirements
  • Ensuring security and privacy of networks and computer systems

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience required

  • 2+ years’ experience as an IT Support Analyst or in a related role
  • Degree in computer science or a related field is a plus
  • Strong communication skills (both for technical and non technical audiences) and collaborative approach
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud platforms (Office 365, Azure AD, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience with MDM solutions for Windows or Mac (e.g. Intune, Mosyle, Jamf) is a plus
  • Experience managing antivirus (e.g. Sophos) and email security software (e.g. Mimecast) is a plus
  • Experience with network management and security is a plus
  • Knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Experience with Windows Server is a plus
  • Technical, logical thought process
  • Ability to stick to strict deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate
