Application Scientist

As a data analyst at Wren Therapeutics you will be part of a driven and energetic Data and Analytics team in a challenging, inspiring and diverse environment.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a friendly, collaborative and outcome-focused team-player to join our innovative and fast-paced company.

You will help maintain and develop Wren’s data management infrastructure, which is core to our ability to derive unique scientific insights and make data-driven decisions to progress our drug discovery process.  The ideal candidate will be a data analytics professional with experience managing data in a Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology context. You will be responsible for implementing solutions to allow us to capture data and metadata at source and will interact daily with our scientific teams and vendors to research experimental processes and design systems to fulfil the needs of users and the company.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Communicate with internal colleagues to understand the needs of departments and the organisation as a whole.
  • Work closely with Wren’s Data Manager and our scientific teams to use data modelling practices to define appropriate data systems, structures and processes.
  • Strategic design and mapping of business requirements to system and technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the writing and communication of technical specifications.
  • Implement and configure internal tools for data and metadata management.
  • Support other D&A staff in delivering technical solutions including helping to resolve any issues.
  • Ensure user engagement, help colleagues understand and apply Wren data systems in their day-to-day work.
  • Assist in testing, training, troubleshooting and maintenance of Wren data systems.
  • Monitor and maintain data processes and systems to secure system robustness and data analysis quality.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience required 

  • A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in data management, analysis or process improvement in a Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology context.
  • Degree or strong background in Biosciences or a related field.
  • An analytical mindset with superb written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate complex problems and business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience working with software developers and data scientists.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently and as part of a team, and think creatively.
  • Fluency in English, verbal and written.
  • Experience with Chem-/Bio-informatics platforms such as Dotmatics, Benchling or similar is an advantage.
  • Experience in Python programming language is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with SQL databases or similar tools is a plus.
  • Experience with data modelling, process flow analysis, requirements definition is a plus.
  • Experience working with vendors is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FAIR principles of data management.
